About LocalSalaryHub
Free, city-level salary data and take-home pay calculators for every major U.S. city.
Our Mission
Salary data is publicly available from the U.S. government, but it's buried in spreadsheets and reports that most people never find. LocalSalaryHub makes this data accessible and actionable: not just “what does this job pay?” but “what will my life actually look like if I take this job in this city?”
We go beyond headline salary numbers. Our tools calculate your real take-home pay after taxes, show how far that money goes given local cost of living, and let you compare purchasing power across cities — so you can make career and relocation decisions based on reality, not just sticker prices.
54,000+ Data Points
Salary data covering 300+ U.S. cities and 150+ occupations from the BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics survey.
Real Purchasing Power
We don't just show raw salary numbers. Our take-home pay calculator factors in federal & state taxes, cost of living, and monthly budget breakdowns.
City-Level Comparison
Compare the same occupation across different cities with real purchasing power analysis — not just nominal salary differences.
Free & Accessible
No paywalls, no accounts required. All salary data and tools are completely free for job seekers, relocators, and researchers.
Data Source
All salary figures on LocalSalaryHub are sourced from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) survey. This is the same data used by the U.S. government for economic analysis and policy decisions.
Cost of living indices are derived from publicly available regional price parity data published by the BLS and the U.S. Census Bureau.
Salary figures reflect annual estimates and may vary by data availability. The most recent data typically lags by 1–2 years from the survey collection period.
How We Calculate Take-Home Pay
Our take-home pay calculator estimates your after-tax income based on:
- Federal income tax (using standard deduction, 2024 brackets)
- State income tax (state-specific rates)
- Social Security tax (6.2% up to the wage base)
- Medicare tax (1.45%)
The monthly budget breakdown uses cost-of-living-adjusted estimates for housing, food, transportation, utilities, and healthcare based on your city's living index.
These are estimates. Actual take-home pay depends on filing status, deductions, pre-tax contributions, and other individual factors.
Who Built This?
LocalSalaryHub is an independent project. We are not affiliated with the U.S. government, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, or any government agency. We simply believe that publicly funded data should be easy for the public to understand and use.
