The short version
LocalSalaryHub shows salary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. It's a research tool, not a crystal ball. The numbers come from government surveys that may lag behind current market conditions, represent statistical averages (not individual offers), and should never be your only data point when making career or financial decisions. Use it as a starting point, then do your own homework.
What this site does
We take BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) survey data and make it searchable by city and occupation. You can compare salaries across locations, estimate take-home pay after taxes, and find job listings from external sites. That's the service.
The important disclaimer
Salary figures on this site are statistical estimates drawn from government survey data. They reflect what's been reported to BLS — not what any specific employer will offer you. A “median salary of $120,000” means half the surveyed workers earned more, half earned less. Your actual offer could be significantly different based on experience, company size, industry, and negotiation.
The tax calculator is an approximation. It won't match your actual paycheck exactly — there are too many variables (pre-tax deductions, local taxes, filing status, credits). Treat it as a ballpark, not financial advice.
If you're making decisions about jobs, relocation, or salary negotiations, talk to a professional who knows your specific situation. We're a data reference, not advisors.

Who owns what
The salary data comes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — that's public domain. Our site design, code, and the way we present the data belong to LocalSalaryHub. If you cite our pages, please attribute both us and the BLS.
External links
Job listings link out to Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor, and Coursera. Those are their sites, not ours. We're not responsible for what happens after you click through.
Liability
We built this tool to be as accurate and useful as possible, but we can't guarantee the data is error-free or that it applies to your situation. If you make a decision based on what you found here and it doesn't pan out, that's on you — not us. We provide the data as-is, with no warranties of any kind.
